Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in”.

Calling all Volunteers! We here at the library are gearing up for our carnival style summer block party on Saturday, May twenty sixth. Our block party will run from eleven am until three p.m, opening with a performance from the high school band, directly following the end of The Dayton Days parade. We will have six live performances from local artists, as well as a forty minute performance by Big Top the Clownwho will also come out with us during the parade. On top of all the great performances, we will have tons of family carnival style games directly in front of the library, as well as on the lawn of First United Methodist Church. We will also have concession stands where we will be selling snow cones, cotton candy, and nachos.

The carnivalstyle block party is the library’s big hoorah to get everyone excited about our new revamped Summer Reading Program. We have some great summer reading activities this year, as well as some prizes that you definitely will not want to miss.

Have you ever worked a cotton candy or snow cone machine? Well, we are asking you, our community to help us with a range of things such as,but not limited t, working a PA system, handing out tickets for games, face painting or even helping with summer reading sign ups. If interested please give us a call at (509)382-4131 or send us an email to library@daytonwa.net. Hope to see you there!

Happy Reading!
